Two Reasons for Brief Infusion of Joy

1. Groundhog Day. Not the holiday, the movie. I temporarily have HBO, and Groundhog Day was on HBO2, and it’s just the most wonderful movie ever made.

2. Toastie Radio is back on the air after several days of hiatus caused by the lack of home internet. I think Elton John’s “Turn the Lights Out When You Leave” shall be the newly-coined “Croûton du mois”, since I certainly can’t update often enough to have a croûton du jour as I once did.

I think I’ll make a Mix 182: The First 17 Songs Played on Toastie Radio from Raleigh…

Pyramid Consulting Snakes Strike Again?

For the second pay period in a row, my direct deposit has come in significantly short of what I calculated that it should be. I sent a polite email to the accounting person and Prashant this time, as opposed to my ultimatum two weeks ago. But if it was inexcusable for them to err two weeks ago, and it was, considering all of the discussion over what my new rate needed to be, then a mistake now could be the last straw. I hope that I have made a mistake in my calculations, although it will suck to not have the money I thought I should have, because I really don’t want to have to start flying somewhere different and starting anew right now.

Three hours at RDU’s terminal A

And I am spending 30 cents a minute to type this even thought I could just type on my laptop and upload later. I should do that… (The 6:49 to Atlanta is delayed until at least 8:30)

Living In Durham No More

Finit. I’ve got one more carload, and Jason will be kind enough to grab it for me today or tomorrow. The apartment needs a major cleaning, and had I planned better, I’d have attempted to take care of that, but I’ll risk being charged, as my time is up. My stuff will be out of there.

I’m giving myself about 90 minutes to decompress, give the kitties some attention, shower, and pack before heading to the airport to fly standby for a 6:45 flight to Atlanta…

Failure

I hit the wall…hard. I didn’t finish my move tonight before needing to fly back to Atlanta at 6AM. Around 9PM, I threw in the towel. I decided I was physically and mentally unable to continue any further. Perhaps a stronger person would’ve been able to finish what needed to be finished by 4AM, when I’d need to get ready for that flight. But there was just too much left to be done, even with Godot and Sarah providing unexpected help by taking over a carload of stuff for me.

So I emailed Jackie and told her I couldn’t make it in tomorrow, and it is possible she will be displeased. I’ll try to fly standby for a 6:40PM flight out, so I’m giving myself until 4PM to finish up with everything.

Every time I move, and there been lots of times by now, I’ve declared that moving is one of the most horrible experiences that there is, and I won’t move again unless I absolutely have to. Well, I didn’t absolutely have to move this time around, and I did, and I did it while having this being-in-Atlanta-five-days-a-week job. Dumb decision, or at least it certainly seems that way right now.

I love my cats

One room down

Only my humungous bedroom closet is completely rid of my junk at this point. And that took about two hours during the course of the Duke-Valpo game. Still to be done–the bathroom, laundry room, dining room area, living room, kitchen, porch, and front closet. Am I only 1/8 done? Oh s****……

Update

Perhaps this can serve as an update for a couple of unnamed people who may be looking at this to see what’s up with me. I’m currenly in the midst of a third and final weekend of moving, and I have a ridiculous amount of stuff left to move considering I did the truck thing last weekend. My work situation continues to be a mess. I am a mess, with little time to breathe or to deal with anything other than immediate matters at hand.

On another note, if anyone would like to buy a treadmill this weekend, I am trying to sell one so that I don’t have to move it or at least get some cash for moving it.

New pics of cats in new apartment with new camera

I don’t know how to use the camera yet, thus the funky exposures in half of them…
