Valganciclovir
aka Valcyte, which is used to treat CMV I usually don’t read the “patient prescription information” but was curious in this case. I had been taking one tablet a day since the transplant, then stopped it a few weeks ago because of my low white blood cell [Read More]
Cytomegalovirus
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cmv/DS00938/DSECTION=symptoms CMV. A common complication for immunosuppressed folks. Fun stuff. Totally treatable. It should become inactive with medication, but still. I think I’m experiencing an anti-placebo effect. Now that [Read More]
Range: Ehhh… Typical Toastie Problem
Range came. Range had no power. Installers blamed my electrical circuits. Flipped breakers several times, no change. Later, out of curiosity, I tried the burners. Burners work. The clock and control don’t work. The oven doesn’t work. What gives? Home Depot [Read More]
The good thing about being on prednisone

A kidney transplant update because I don’t think I’ve done one in awhile
Actually, it seems to have been about three weeks. No news was good news, I guess you could say. My creatinine dipped below 2.0, down to 1.9. Still not great, but less worrisome. I’m only getting blood work once a week, and I don’t know what last [Read More]
Just sleeping pets
Off to Charlotte for a triple-header of renal excitement. Then off to North Myrtle Beach for mini golf and Nook reading on the beach (with umbrella and plenty of sunscreen so I don’t get the melanoma I am at even higher risk of getting on top of mole-prone skin). Back [Read More]
Post-biopsy
I should provide a brief kidney update. The biopsy was relatively painless. The results were negative for any signs of rejection. This is good news. I consider it to be worrisome news that my creatinine remains around 2.25. My doctor doesn’t want to make any changes. [Read More]
