Victoria Peterson: Getting Durham Men to Work!

I need all the wake-up calls I can get in the morning. So thank you to Victoria Peterson’s volunteer staff for calling me at 7:45 this morning to let me know that there’s a rally for her candidacy this weekend. I had no idea she was running for something again. But if there’s an election for something, she’s got to be in it. You’ve got to admire her perseverance. Ms. Peterson is angling to become a County Commissioner this time around.

I know she’s always talking about the need to get work for Durham men. She got me to get up and come to work this morning. Please don’t ever call me at 7:45 in the morning again, but it was ok this one time…

Who’s this Victoria Peterson? I feel like I know her name for some reason, but I don’t know why she’s so famous/infamous. Any history on this lady?

  • Toastie says:

Your distinguished colleague spoke to her a couple of months back in this video post. She also shows up at just about every city council and county commissioners’ meeting. She ran for city council last year and didn’t garner enough votes in the primary to advance to the general election. She used to be a Republican but became a Democrat sometime in the past year or two. You can probably find a lot more about her if you search Bull City Rising or Dependable Erection.

She also features prominently in the Duke rape hoax saga, Ashley. Nifong’s moll; the lady who screamed for the New Black Panthers to set fire to the lacrosse house; and was later thrown out of court for threatening the mothers of one of the accused. She also has a history as Durham’s most outspoken homophobe.

  • Ashley Sue says:

Holy Wow! Indeed, the infamy. How did I miss all of that?! Oh the history of Durham that I have to learn!

    Thanks, guys, for the info!

  • DurhamBullPen says:

Oh yeah, that’s right. I recall that she stood on the corner around Ninth & Main Streets and yelled um . . . unpleasantries . . . at those marching the Pride Parade this past year.
