Dear Ms. Winfrey:

You may be aware that Downtown Durham, North Carolina, is in the midst of a promising revitalization. Unfortunately, one local building owner, Mr. Ronnie Sturdivant, insists on continuing to display his “WE WANT OPRAH” sign smack in the middle of downtown. While this may be flattering to you, and Durhamites would certainly love a visit from the magnificent Oprah Winfrey, it seems unlikely that you’ll be stopping in for some barbecue anytime soon. This downtown sign is now three years old.

Is there any chance that you could…I don’t know, buy this building from Mr. Sturdivant? Or maybe just send Gayle to say hello? Anything to stop the madness!
