Hi Psyche!

Yay for new LJ friend

After I posted my last cheesy entry, I received a notification that the Toastie Radio guestbook had been signed. Mandi of Manchester, UK writes:

The songs that you play are so sweet and touching. I have to work long number of hours on my research every day and the only exciting part is listening to your radio in the background. It makes me feel that I am alive and that the love exists some where not too far a way. (hopefully!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I’ve often felt like I’ve outgrown my movie poster collection. I used to be proud of them, but when I look at the couple I still display in my apartment, I think, “So you like romantic movies, big deal, nobody cares, Dave…” The same can be said of all things romantic that I’ve dabbled in; for instance, Toastie Radio. Years ago, when Toastie Radio started, an attractive coworker listened and enjoyed it. To my chagrin, she did not conclude, “Wow, the guy who put this music together is the greatest guy I’ve ever met.” I don’t make mixes of love songs anymore. I don’t know what to do with the 180+ that I’ve got. Sometimes I’m tempted to throw them out. Nobody cares, Dave.

Anyway, for whatever reason, I just ordered my first movie poster in several years, one for Love Actually. And I put back up on the walls movie posters that had been in the closet for a few years–What Dreams May Come, Braveheart, and Dave. When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle are still up there, the couple I referred to before.

“For whatever reason”…I suppose I still want to allow myself to dream, to hope that there still is a chance…to find happiness, to find love.

And for whatever reason, I’ve decided to share these cheesy, disjointed thoughts in a rare public entry.

Love Actually

Watched for the ten or eleventh time today, this time for the first time with director and cast commentary turned on. Now all I need is the score, which is a bit difficult to find, since it wasn’t released as an album. There’s a preview CD floating around on eBay for about $65.

For the second time in three years, I get to go to the ACC tournament on Saturday to see Duke play, courtesy of Godot’s dad. Sweet!
