Letter to CNN.com:
You should rename yourselves CIN – Cable Idiot Network. The 24/7 story now is the runaway bride. You’ve manufactured this soap opera that I couldn’t care less about, other than that it illustrates how low CNN has sunk and why I watch it less and less. Your question of the day is “Should John Mason wed his runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks?”
What about the 30th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War? What about the mass graves uncovered in Iraq? What about the U.S. soldiers being cleared of the death of the Italian secret service agent?
You dictate what Americans should be paying attention to, and you do a pathetic job.
You should start offering two services, seriously…CNN and CNN.com for NEWS, and CIN for this other crap that you shovel to the masses.

All I have to do is call his name now, and if he is within a few feet of the Diet Pepsi carton, he runs into it, well, as far as his body can go. And then there’s just a cat butt sticking out of a Diet Pepsi carton. Freak.

Uh, separation of church and state. The NC legislature is going to pass a bill to mandate automatic jail time for robberies at houses of worship, after a rash of crimes at NC churches. I’m sorry someone likes to pick on the churches, but why do the violators of churches (and mosques and synagogues) warrant special punishment? I would doubt any legislator would vote against this bill, although logically, it is a clear example of putting the church into the state. NC is going to recognize that places of worship are more important than the Kwiki Mart or my home or your home. My home is the most sacred place for me. Your beliefs don’t deserve more protection than my lack of beliefs.
Maybe I should pick up and move to Portland or Seattle. I need to move somewhere that will just slap me on the wrist the next time I feel the urge to pillage a church, since I certainly can’t do it here anymore.

Someone of my f-list was listening, thought I’d give it a try. Need to broaden horizons more often. Toastie Radio switches to new Pagan format starting next week…

Seriously, I’d never seen it until tonight (on TBS). I feel like a complete ignoramus. Awesome movie.

…regarding my barbs against the Catholic Church, but then I read [this article], and the word silly is a gross understatement.
But don’t get me wrong, I don’t care what others believe, and I DO respect people’s beliefs…until they infringe on my rights and the laws of the land, which is the issue at the heart of my bitterness. In most cases, if you are a Hypochristian, your beliefs are f-ing around with my rights.

Silly religion. A new leader to tell a billion sheeple that they can only be saved through Christ and that Catholic doctrine is the only acceptable doctrine, that disease and poverty are preferable to contraception, that homesexuality is evil…
Yes, I am an ignorant, disrespectful agnostic, and when I hear the name Benedict, I think of traitors, eggs, and the British neighbor on The Jeffersons.

***1/2
Thoroughly enjoyable performances from Joan Allen and Kevin Costner. Hilarious at times. Touching and romantic at times, not at all syrupy. The four daughters grated on me at times, particularly Keri Russell, who, at 29, is simply not believable playing 18. (They’re all considerably older in real life then they’re characters, but this casting was the most jarring for me). Highly recommend.
