Toastie’s Tsunami Relief Fund

I will beg for clicks for today, and all of the money generated for today, December 31 will go to UNICEF. So CLICK ALL THE ADS, and I’ll let you know the total tomorrow.

Cheers, Peace, and Happy New Year!

The return of click-begging

$63.01 between October 1 and today, so still $36.99 away from a Google check. Not nearly as many clicks, since I haven’t been clicking daily, I haven’t been begging for clicks as much, and the award per click has averaged more like 5 cents a click instead of 50. (It depends on the ads that happen to be on the site; ticket sales sites seem to generate the big bucks; links to free CDs and eBay and Amazon do not). But I noticed a huge upswing in clicks and award per click the past two days. 34 clicks for $11.72.

So…click away…please…I know it may sound selfish of me given the state of the world, but I did give to UNICEF yesterday. Click on their site too, or another charity. I gave very little, but it is still enough to provide clean water to family for a month or food for a week or something like that.

Hmm…just had an idea…

Cirque

If I hadn’t been so reluctant to spend $31.50 to go to Cirque, a date-like event where I’d be an odd wheel, I could have had a center orchestra seat along with everyone else.

Fearing spending a New Year’s alone, I’ve now spent $45.65 for a mezzanine left-of-center seat, likely sitting between strange couples. (That $45.65 includes a $6.25 Ticketf*cker convenience charge–it is the only option to get the tickets and a $3.40 order processing charge–yes, the server processing power cost them $3.40).

Oh, well. Cirque stuff is supposed to be quite good, so it might be worth it.

Anti-Magnet

Awesome! Thanks

Oh, I deleted all my John Kerry icons…

Hey, if the Red Sox can come back from 3-0 to beat the Yankees, who knows?

A Christmas Eve

Tonight I experienced what it might be like to be part of a sane family, and it had me longing for normalcy and stability in my life.  Jenn’s brothers John and Dave and their wives Michelle and Cindy are all about our age (mine and Jenn and Jason’s), and, for sure, Jason will be part of the Lanuti family in the near future (sometime in 2006, I suspect).  Throw in some in-laws, including the one colorful senior and a Jack Russell terrier (Deacon), and you’ve got a great Christmas Eve…and for good measure, throw in the one random friend (me).

Desperate needs for the coming year (well, for my life in general)…a stable job, stable finances, stable health, and, for Christ’s sake (it’s Christmas, after all…and what does “for Christ’s sake” mean anyway? Christ’s sake, that makes no sense), perhaps a serious long-term relationship?

What I do have going for me…friends who care about me, family who (yes, I admit) care about me, two sweet cats who absolutely adore me, and some speck of a belief, lost in the wind most of the time, that I can be so much more than what I am.

Open entry tonight, because I desire to commune with the world, or something like that…

Some pics (not one of cats)

Kennedy Center Honors

What a great show, particularly the closing thirty minute tribute to Elton John. John Williams and Warren Beatty were among the others honored. What a pity that such distinguished entertainment folks had to sit next to George W. Bush. I’m sure he’s a HUGE Elton John fan.

Anyway, just taking a break from the sludge of my recent entries to make that observation.

Two Reasons for Brief Infusion of Joy

1. Groundhog Day. Not the holiday, the movie. I temporarily have HBO, and Groundhog Day was on HBO2, and it’s just the most wonderful movie ever made.

2. Toastie Radio is back on the air after several days of hiatus caused by the lack of home internet. I think Elton John’s “Turn the Lights Out When You Leave” shall be the newly-coined “Croûton du mois”, since I certainly can’t update often enough to have a croûton du jour as I once did.

I think I’ll make a Mix 182: The First 17 Songs Played on Toastie Radio from Raleigh…
