Moving, Sort of

The Budget truck rental place didn’t have my reservation on file, and they had no trucks to rent. The guy said I could try calling him in the afternoon. I went to the U-Haul place, the one next to Durham’s prison by the ballpark, the same place I’ve been a dozen times, for my own moves and for Psi U moves over the years. No trucks available, but maybe later, but the sleazeball manager wasn’t too trustworthy, insisting to another customer that the mileage rate for weekend rentals was 79 cents a mile, which I might well be, but the customer thought it was 59 cents, and Budget’s is 49 cents, and U-Haul trucks always suck anyway…

…and I hadn’t really prepared well at all for this move and thought it perhaps it would be better to skip the big-stuff move for now and just try to get some boxes and smaller things moved. If only anyone were available to help me. Jason is ostensibly still raking leaves. Harrison is off on errands. And I told Dave he didn’t need to come over today, since he has studying to do and he did say he’d be available in two weeks, when I now expect to do the big-stuff move.

Aremid is freaking out, since he knows that boxes mean moving, and my being gone five days a week likely adds another layer of confusion to the whole puzzle within in tiny feline skull.

Zellouisa is peeing all over the bathroom. I bought some glucose test strips. Yeah, she’s diabetic, all right. I got her indecipherable records from Park Vet, but I don’t know when and where I’ll take Zellouisa next. She will have to go on insulin, and I’m not sure how I’m going to find someone willing to give her shots twice a day, or two people to give her one shot a day.
